THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU,!!

Get the picture???

It was GREAT!!! I did it!!!!!!!!

I took those 30 pages of instruction and it was a cake walk!!!!

With each dvd i got quicker and smoother in knowing what i was doing... I still need the directions, but now.. I'm burning!!!!!!!!

OK.... now i have MORE questions....

Can I delete the folders after the DVD is burned...?

Can i call a folder MOVIE... instead of the movies' name?
will it write over it with each pass or not..

Also i had one small confusion...

The instructions {step 43} show the target to be
c:\dvd work\batman.iso

My target kept coming up
c:\dvd work\previous movie\batman iso???

so i would recreate the target
c:/dvd work\batman\batman iso.... save and then burn.....

do i need to do that??

that is why i would like to just have one folder : Movie.... and keeping writing over that one... is that ok??

Keep watching... I will advance....

Thanks again!!!

Yes, you can delete the folders after the burn is done.
No,you dont have to have a specific name for each movie...a folder titled "movie" will work just fine, and you can just write over it again and again.

You are welcome.

Yes you can do it your way.

I do mine individually so that I know what movie is in what folder as I might have 20 movies on my hd at a time.

My folder is DVD_Burns and inside that I have the movie folders.

Once you get used to it, its like riding a bike.

Merry Christmas.

New question...

What are some of the differences in all the copy stuff...

decrypter vs fab decrypter vs Nero vs etc etc...

Are they used the same?? what are the differences??

i don't want to download them to see - just yet.....

Also.. music CD's... are they encrypted as well or not??

thanks.

I do mine slightly differently...

I use shrink and Nero to do my backups.. Nero automatically starts burning when shrink is through doing it's stuff. In shrink, you can specify where the temp files are recorded (mine is H:\temp), so when Nero is finished burning the movie, I go into H:\temp and select all the files and copy them to a place like H:\movies\name of movie... it only takes a few seconds because it's not moving them far, and that way when I check the movie to see if it burned ok, if there's a problem I can just reburn those files with Nero instead of having to use shrink again. Also, handy if you want more than one copy.

Hope that made sense to you bluesky.

okey dokey....

I think i will keep doing it with decrypter & shrink untill i am more understanding of this whole process...

BUT.. i will read and read and learn more!!!

then i will try another program - like you suggested...

Why do you like Nero instead of decrypter? is it faster/ better?

Did you try the others to compare??

Thanks again

DVDdecrypter is a ripper and burner, but is not being updated anymore for more current encryptions. (Still a tool worth having) The author of DVDdecrypter is now producing imgburn which is a burning tool. Very good. I use this engine to burn currently. Its available free from http://www.imgburn.com

DVDFab decrytper is a ripper only with updated encryption breaking. Works well on hard to rip discs due to scratches as well as encryption issues.

NERO is a burning tool. I am not real familiar with it as I do not have it. Lots of folks here do though so you can get your questions answered.

Why are there so many!!!!

i guess that it's a good thing - but confusing...

Sort of like many different kind of pens.. but they all write.

For a new person getting into it.. Boy.. the choices..

How often are the programs updated..

Are they written by different authors is that why the assortment??

This is really fun...

You can use lots of different programs for the same thing usually, most people find one that works real well for them and stick with it. I sometimes use DVD Decrypter to burn too.. but for the most part stick with Nero. I use that for my cd backups too, very easy to use and I haven't found any cd's that won't copy with this yet(crosses fingers!)

I like to try out new software too though, just for comparison usually, but when I find something better than what I was using, it's awesome.

good luck with your burns.. :)

do you keep all your freeware on your hdd... or on a disk backup?

Do these programs take up alot of room??

Do you delete them as you upgrade??

My next projects include cd mixes.. I used to do them in the 80's
(remember the 80's ??) and created my own cassete mixs with all of my favs for driving........vrooooom.

How can i get my cassette music onto a disk???

My other next project will also be my photography collection - getting more involved into digital and getting my negs onto disks.

Yes, I keep all the freeware on my HDD and on a cd/dvd backup or flashcard in case my computer crashes..saves having to find and download all of it again. Unless I know for sure that I'm likely not to use it ever again, then I delete it.

They don't take up too much room, but it's relative to what space you have I guess... If you only have a 20GB HDD it's going to seem a lot of space compared with someone like me that has 520GB's of HDD space to use.

When you say "do I delete them as I upgrade", do you mean delete the older versions of the same program? or delete the programs that have a better alternative program?
In the case of the first one. Newer versions of the same program usually overwrite the earlier version or just update a few files, so generally don't take up much more space than the original.
In the case of the second one. Yes, if I find a better program for the job in hand then I'll delete the older program... but I will usually keep a copy of it on disc or somewhere in case I change my mind or find the new one isn't as good as I thought it was.

Yes, I used to create tape mixes when I was much younger for driving too. I still make cd mixes for driving now unless I have my mp3 player with me. I've never attempted to get tape to cd, I know it's possible but is a lot of work involved.. If I find that I have something on tape that I really want on cd, I just get the cd from somewhere and copy that instead.. much easier.

I did do some photography stuff though, I just used a scanner to scan my photos though... if you want to scan negatives I think you need a very good scanner, but I do believe they have ones especially for negatives too.. not sure of price though.

Good luck with everything here :)
