To get a successful backup of "The Great Raid" go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/273848 and follow "method or PROCESS #2". **NOTE: you'll need to rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter, get it from here http://69.73.173.59/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe (it's free).

Enjoyed it... and happy burning!!!

Yoy can also use fixvts instead of vobblanker to clean up the files. Try these sites. The wizard works realy slick, and easily takes you thru the steps. Happy holidays to all.

- heres url for wizard that will do fixvts or vobblanker for you:

meant to say that for the great raid, you do not need to create a psl2 file, so the wizard will automatically skip the second of three steps. and actually, if you already ripped to HD with DVD Decrypter, you can start wizard on third step, which will clean the files on your HD.

Had trouble initially with The Great Raid. Ripped to HD with Decrypter with AnyDVD in background and trouble with Shrink. I tried VobBlanker for first time and worked like a charm with menus and all. Really didn't have to do anything special.
1. Used Decrypter (AnyDVD in background) in FILE MODE to HD to THE_GREAT_RAID folder and into VIDEO_TS sub folder created there. Forget all the error messages about lead in stuff and let Decrypter do its' thing.
2. Once done open VobBlocker and Browse in the input folder for the folder where you decryted (THE_GREAT_RAID/VIDOE_TS) and you will see a file VIDEO_TS.IFO. Click on that and VobBlocker will "load" the ripped components to the area maked "Title Set".
3. Create a Folder called THE_GREAT_RAID_2 with a VIDEO_TS subfolder.
4. In the Output Folder section of VovBlocker browse for the folder and subfolder VIDEO_TS you just created and tell it that is where you want files to go.
5. Click "Process" and grab a cool one while it works the magic.
6. Once done close and open shrink and have it go to the GREAT_RAID_2 and it will then work, menus and all.
Don't know how it worked but simple enough to use VobBlocker without having to do a lot of tweaking. I was afraid VobBlocker was going to be more difficult than it turned out to be. Didn't have to find particular file to block or delete as I had expected. Pretty automatic and Fool Proof. Don?t have to keep the original Raid folder once have the Raid 2 done.

Also used AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 without VobBlocker. Test burn of both played fine. Of course with CloneDVD2 cut out annoying blanks and the Mirmax Home Video logo prior to the actual movie. Can't do that with Shrink.
Don't know if DVDFAB or DVD43 work as I don't use.

Happy burning!

While running AnyDVD 5.6.3.1 in the background, backup "The Great Raid" to a computer file using CloneDVD (6.97GB), then use DVD Shrink 3.2 to copy the movie file from your computer to a single layer disc (4.7GB). It should took around 1hr 20min or less.

you can get rid of movie indudtry logo using DVD Shrink, using the start/end button. As a matter of fact, you can start movie and end it wherever you'd like.

I am also having trouble for the first time with 'The Great Raid'.
This is the first problem I've experienced after backing up many DVDs with Decrypter and Shrink. I recently included VobBlanker,
DVDFAB Decrypter, and AnyDVD in the process. I eventually backed up 'The Great Raid' using DVDFAB Decrypter, VobBlanker, and Shrink.(followed instructions found here)

The problem I am now having is that the 16x9 movie only backs up as 4:3
full screen. This happens using Shrink ,whether I'm copying the complete DVD or re-authoring just the movie .

And thanks for the previous posts that got me this far.

At first I thought was an error and only was able to get 4:3 full screen until looked at the case and I evidently didn't buy the "widescreen" edition. Look and see if that is the issue. That is the only way I think that this happened to you. If says Widescreen on the box then I don't have an answer. The video store I where I bought it said no exchanges. There is a Latin saying "Caveat Emptor" (let the buyer beware) so I guess I'm partially at fault but I won't buy there again.
