Somtimes I want to copy a movie on to a second DVD-R disc, Is there a way to get DVD shrink or another program to do that? I want to get 100% video quality and 5.1 audio on a disc and Im willing to break it up on to two DVD-R 4.7 gig Disc to do that. I am not sure I have a dual layer burner, I'll have to check, but I have lots of 4.7 gig disc around and pefer that method.

Have anydvd or dvd43 running (one or the other, not both).Get VobBlanker at:
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm

Follow this guide.
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides/VobBlanker/splitdvd9/index.php

Note: If you already ripped the files to your HDD, you can work with them instead of a DVD as described in the guide (locate the VIDEO_TS folder, use those files, for input folder selection always point to the VIDEO_TS.IFO file for each process, DISK1 and 2).

IT'S FREE.

Or...you can do what I did. Last night I was backing up Scarface(2:49) decided to put it on 2 DVD's 4.7. Using Shrink went to Re-Author >Start Frame /End Frame. Found the end of a crucial scene at about 1:30 and ended the first disc there. Started the second Disc without any loss of continuity.

Yes you can using the "Re-Author >Start Frame /End Frame" method. Just remember to set the DVD size in shrink's options to DVD-9 or shrink will apply compression because it's set for a DVD-5 and assumes your trying to fit the entire move on one DVD.

Remember beepover states "I want to get 100% video quality"

I'm rather new at burning, but I was going to suggest the same thing as stated above. "Re-Author >Start Frame /End Frame" method" ... It may take a little more time but I think it should work. Then you'll still get the needed files on both discs.

By the way. Thanks for asking this question. I was considering trying to break up some movies on to 2 discs too.

Would one still have to do the above suggestion even after changing Compression setting from Automatic to Custom?

If you change the option to DVD-9, DVDshrink should not apply any compression(leave it in automatic) and backup the movie sections (for disk1 and 2). If you change the setting to custom then you are telling DVDshrink to apply some percentage of compression to make the file smaller (unless your custom setting is set at 100%).

When I backup onto 2 discs I always set the compression at 100% and then do the Re-Author >Start Frame /End Frame method. I never had a problem, but it is sometimes tricky picking up the second disc EXACTLY where the first one left off - sometimes you have to scroll back a few seconds before where the end of disc 1 ended.
