I have a slimline ps2 with a flip installed and it is constantly giving me troubles. Half the time it hangs after the funky SwapMagic "Playstation 2" pops up, the other half it reads it like a regular disc and boots me into the PS2 browser. The odd times it does work, it's only because I leave it and eventually it comes to the swapmagic load screen, but only after a long wait. I have an older PS2 with an old SM and it has never given me half this much trouble.

Any help appreciated.

Sounds like your SM disc might be going out or you need to clean your laser. Use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol on the laser and see if that helps.

The only other thing could be that your laser is going out. Do you have problems with any other original disc or is it just SM?

No other problems, originals play fine. I'll try cleaning the laser.

If that doesn't work, depending on how long you've had the SM discs, try contacting the company that you got it from and get a replacement.

Try squeezing shut the lid while swap magic boots and also make sure your PS2 is in standby when you insert the swap magic.
