I just burned cry wolf. Use DVD Decrypter in file mode, then use DVD Shrink.Worked for me. Valiant- Use DVD Decrypter in iso mode. Then in shrink open it with open disc image option. I havent dealt with brothers grimm yet so I dont know about that one.

I could get it to my HD with Decrypter, but it would not open in Shrink. I tried going straight with Shrink, but it freezes up the program if I try to go anywhere from the main Shrink screen.

Yep, below is the method I used (for all RipGuard protections) and I can confirmed that it works 100%.

**NOTE: this is for those that have tried AnyDVD, DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD43 or other methods, and it has failed only.

Here's the method I used and it works 100%, yes... you hear me, a full disc GUARANTEE to work. If you do as follow, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too.

I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then use VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.

For those that can not backup "The Brothers Grimm". I don't know, but I'm guessing there's some sort of bad sectors or encrypted protection (something very similar to Macrovision's RipGuard).

**Tools need: DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice of preference). Here's what you need to do:

** get free VobBlanker here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2010_exe.zip

**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.

1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.

2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK

3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.

4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.

The method I provided works 100% for any dvd movies that has RipGuard protection. However, to "BLANK" out which "VTS.XX.*.VOB" and "PGCs" may be varied (or to be determined) with different dvds, but that shouldn't be hard. PgcEdit usually tells you which VTS that carried the bad sectors (bad protected sectors or junks) when you ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter.

**NOTE: again, the method I used works beautifully. I've already tested and watched my backup and it plays flawlessly on 2 of my standalone dvd players.

Good luck... and happy burning!!!! Like ddp said; "teach and learn."

1sunshine ,
You can either activate AnyDVD by buying it or update to the new DVDFAB Decrypter as it is supposed to do those movies

i ripped and burned cry wolf perfectly just using,shrink,DVD43 running in backround, and burning with Nero.i had trouble with brothers grimm on first run it ripped and burnt fine with same 3 programs, its just when i watched the backup,it wouldnt start in the beginning it would automatically skip to chapter 2 of movie.turns out theres like a black screen for quite a bit of time beofre the actually movie starts so in shrink you have to use the <- -> arrows and skip till you see dimension films.then backup and burn.same thing happened to me on madagascar i used the 3 same programs and it ripped and burnt fine but it would skip to chapter 2 right away,so i did the same thing and second copy came out perfect.

@1sunshine

Use the guide in my signature for DVDdecrypter and DVDShrink. Make sure you activate AnyDVD before putting the DVD into the read drive. Allow a few seconds for the fox icon to flash pale and then open either DVDdecrypter or DVDShrink to begin the ripping and encoding process.

Follow the guide step by step.

Cheers.

1sunshine ,
Since you are having a problem w/ the disk and others have done the disk w/o problems then the disk you have might be a bad press. You will need to return it for exchange

Ok, I'm having the same issue. I followed the directions to a "T". what I get is VT files but nothing when I open up shrink? Then I used the system VOB. The question I have is when it says set the input to source are they refering to the c drive?

In VobBlanker the Input folder is the movie you ripped to HD. The Output Folder is the folder you create on the HD and that is the folder you use w/ Shrink.

Thanks, I do not know if I'm doing this correct. I setup DVDDecrypter. The go to mode select file click on it. Onces it is done I select a folder on my HD to copy it to. Then when I open up VOB the folder will show a VTS file but when I clicked on it, it then gave me a error. The error I belive was saying that there isn't a video file?

@ alkohol

I'm trying to follow your "simple" steps on Brothers Grimm using DVDFabDecrypterv2.9.6.0(Free) & VOBBlankerv2.0.1.0. I have NSW2005, SpyBotSDv1.3, DVD43v3.6.2, DVDShrinkv3.2.0.15, & Patin-Couffinv0.19 installed on my g/f's Sony Vaio PCV-RS710 running XPHomeSP2 with dual 3GHz P4 & 512M RAM. The burner is an OE Pioneer DVR-108. The only mod is an extra 80G HD, & the OS was reinstalled last month due to a bad OE HD.

But when I blank the 6 PGCs you list & hit PROCESS, I get an error for an unsynchronized VOB, & the process fails out. Is one of the other installed programs interfering?

I have now read a few more threads; one mentions shutting down DVD43, but that had no effect for me; another mentioned un- & re-installing VOBBlanker, but I only installed it moments before getting this error. Do I need to disable DVD43 & reboot?
