I use dvd shrink 3.2 to backup and shrink my movies, i have been trying to copy movies but latley i'm getting an odd error message,
it is a ripped movie that i try to back up this is my process
put in movie
click on open disk
then it begins to analyse and at about 90% i get the error
" dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue, failed to read file d:\, data error (cyclic redundancy check)"
i've tried several different movies but the same error, i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still the same message.

can someone please help

@f_locke
It could mean the discs are dirty/scratched/bad press or shrink can't handle the copy protection. Which movies is this happening to?
Have you tried decrypter, dvd fab decrypter or running AnyDVD is the background?

I haven't tried having decrypter running in the background, usually what happens is it would analyse, then i would back it up, and i have it set to burn with decrypter.

I'm using sony disks, my burner can handle + and - discs so i'm using the right type

I have tried burning several, they are as i said ripped copies that work fine in a dvd player
i've tried fantastic 4, son of the mask, and shrek 2

Are you trying backed up copies or origonal new DVD's? I'm not clear on that.

CRC errors can be a bad press.

I'm taking this to mean, as 9mmruger1 already asked, that you are trying to backup a backup...

If this is the case, and you are getting CRC errors, the problem could be a few different things.

1. Cheap media. Sony, while a big name in electronics, is not an entirely good source of blank media. The made in Japan variety should be reliable, but all of the others are questionable.

2. Don't use paper labels, they can wreak havoc on a DVD player. And if you are using them, this may be giving you the CRC error.

3. It is recommended to not burn at more than 4X. If the backups that you are backing up from were burnt at too high of a speed, producing read errors on the original backup, could be the source of your woes too.

Just a few thoughts....

Try cleaning off the disc. Which movies are giving you crc errors? It may be that shrink can't handle the copy protection. Have you tried DVD Decrypter or dvd fab decryter?
