Those may ID as prodisc r-05? or similar?Definetely prodisc.

All the fuji +8x media I bought were Yuden000-T02 and they were in the 30 pack spindles. They had 3-10 pack spindles-green/yellow/blue-that were shrink wrapped together.

Staple's did have these on sale a while back for $8 a pack. That was 30 cents each during that sale, just like the best buy prodisc fuji sale.

I noticed all their fuji media: 25/50/100/and rw packs were made in taiwan. That turned me off from buying them.
I can get the Office Depot brand media that's made by ritek/ricoh when they go on sale for 20-25 cents each!

If they were genuine taiyo yuden fujis, then that shrink wrapper would say Made in Japan.

talked about here already...fuji...LOL...the taiwanese ones are def. not as good as the Taiyo Yudens... :)

take em' back saxtech...get some better discs for your money spent~ :)

docTY~

@neodave, edited..wonder WHERE and from WHO you saw info first about the 16x fuji's....LOL

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272433

edited...forgot to add, bunnyrip, the Fuji 16x dvd+r MIT are a product of Philips/CMC MAG Oxonol dye...it's supposedly "new" dye process formulated jointly by both Philips and CMC MAGNETICS...

Fujifilm DVD+R 4.7GB PHILIPS.C16 16x ( i have NEVER trusted ANYTHING with Philips code on it...at least with the 8x and slower speeds, it was PURE CRAP...don't know if this new "oxonol dye" is any better, but you have to remember it's fairly new to the market...as with anything new, i don't PERSONALLY want to be a guinea pig and waste my money on it...but, that's just ME, i would never use anything w/ Philips code on it, if the future of it's media is ANYTHING like it's past...it's gonna be garbage at a faster rated speed) :)

what brand should I be looking for that I can get off of the shelf
This is my area of specialty, and I can find excellent quality media at a very good price.

Office Max has the verbatims. Both the +8x and +16x are very good. These will be produced in taiwan.

Other stores to keep an eye on:

Staples-for the sony 50 pack spindles and the japanese fuji in the 30 pack spindles.Lots of taiyo yuden's are in these japanese spindles.Keep an eye out for the japanese maxells every once in a while.Hitachi of japan makes those japanese maxells.

Office Depot: Their house brand 8x media are ritek media. Very good and can get for 20-25 cents each when on sale. The 16x are richojpn's and not too bad. They also have great sales on verbatim and maxell media.Usually buy1/get 1 free-sometimes 2 free. Look for the made in japan on the labels of the maxells-hitachi's are in them.Taiwanese maxells:riteks in majority and rare instances of cmags.

Wal-mart: Not very good sales, but when OD or staples run out, take that ad to wal-mart and they'll match them.Usually sony and maxell in those stores.

Hey doc,
Quote:
Philips/CMC MAG Oxonol dye
its supposed to be like a bleach that brings out the colors in your movie :).. Naww just kiddin. Sounds like pure junk with a "special" name attached. A sh*t sandwich is still just a turd with bread on it. Its not gonna taste good no matter what you call it.
Yeah, CMC needs to export it's great dye making process to the rest of the world.. NOT!!!

Die CMC Mag!!!

LOL Maxburn, how i wholeheartedly AGREE with you...kinda scary~ :)

companies are always going to put a "special name" on whatever "technology" they introduce to the market, call it what you want but i'll always stick to WHAT HAS WORKED in the past for me...

Taiyo Yuden and MCC Verbatims are almost ALL i use now...with TY being slightly ahead...ok...a LOT ahead..few thousand ahead..LOL
