it seems that shrink,recode2 and other programs are not handling ARccOss well, even after ripping the files with anydvd/decrypter or fabdecrypter some programs are not being able to handle some of the new movies. so my non-expert advise is. run the file thru vobBlanker first, it has really help me at lot.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Yep, VobBlanker for me all the way, hands down -- it has never let me down. Honestly, I've never ran into any issues regardless if it's Sony's ARccOS or Macrovision's RipGuard.

Here's the method I primarily used:

- either rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F

- or rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter

- open up the movie via PgcEdit and diagnose for any bad protected sectors, and make *good note* from it. (for advanced users: you can use the PSL Plugins as well).

- open up VobBlanker, preview/edit and "blank" those b!tch/junks out, including that annoying "FBI Warning" as well, then PROCESS. If you're an "advanced user" you can even "cut/edit" out any cells/scenes that you don't need them.

- encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 with both "Advanced Analysis" and "High Quality Mode".

- burn that sucker with Nero Burning Rom/Nero Express using genuine Taiyo Yuden media and automatically set "Book Type" into DVD-ROM, and yes..... sweet, free of worries. Now you can pop a bottle of XO and sip it until you laugh out loud.

Happy Holidays!!!

I don't know how you come up with an "unsynchronized error" and what you did, but if follow them wisely, you should not have any issues at all. I backed up my copy exactly as my mini guide and presto.... it works flawlessly on 2 of my standalone dvd players.

Here it is for "The Brothers Grimm", it has Macrovision's RipGuard.

Yep, that is the method I used (for all RipGuard protections) and I can confirmed that it works 100%.

**NOTE: this is for those that doesn't have AnyDVD or have tried with DVD43 or other methods, and it has failed only.

Here's the method I used and it works 100%, yes... you hear me, a full disc GUARANTEE to work. If you do as follow, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too.

I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then use VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.

**Tools need: DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice of preference). Here's what you need to do:

** get free VobBlanker here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2010_exe.zip

**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.

1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.

2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK

3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.

4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.

Again, the method I provided works 100% for any dvd movies that has RipGuard protection. However, to "BLANK" out which "VTS.XX.*.VOB" and "PGCs" may be varied (or to be determined) with different dvds, but that shouldn't be hard. PgcEdit usually tells you which VTS that carried the bad sectors (bad protected sectors or junks) when you ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter.

**NOTE: again, the method I used works beautifully. I've already tested and watched my backup and it plays flawlessly on 2 of my standalone dvd players.

Good luck... and happy burning!!!!

I remember when Resident Evil: Apocalypse was such a pain in the @$$ to backup. In fact, I think VobBlanker is the only one that worked for that movie, but thats just me.

Hi alkohol,
Yes sir I did follow your instruction step by step. I have uninstalled AnyDVD and have check the task manager to make sure that nothing like DVD43 or AnyDVD is running in the background and still have that same error. I am a newbie at this so please bear with me. Should I try to uninstall DVD43 also just to make sure that it is not running in the background or is there something wrong with the setting on my DVD Decrypter? I changed some minor setting on the Decrypter to burn movies to my IPOD using Videora. May be there were some settings that I forgot to change back? What are the settings that I should check for on my Decrypter? Please advise. Thanks so much again.

@elizerroj Dang that seems like a lot of steps. All I use is AnyDVD (runs in background), DVD Shrink and Alcohol 120%. Then of course the ones that don't work I use VobBlanker.

You can also use fixvts instead of vobblanker to clean up the files. Try these sites. The wizard works realy slick, and easily takes you thru the steps. the fixvts step is #3. Happy holidays to all.

- heres url for wizard that will do fixvts or vobblanker for you:

Thanks alkohol for the great guide :) How do you know which one to blank out when you use VobBlanker? Could you please provide us with a guide on that as well. Thanks and happy holiday.

@charlie36

You're welcome, glad I could help. Yep, sometimes "uninstalling and reinstall" back on will help/solve the problem. I usually recommend newbies at the Nero Forum to "uninstall and reinstall" the application/program and it helps most of the times.

Happy burning and Happy Holidays!!!!!

By the way, I almost forgot, to find out which VTS.XX.*VOB or PGCs is carrying/having the bad sectors (encrypted protected sectors), you need to use PgcEdit in combo with PSL Plugins. Once after a movie is ripped by DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F, run it through PgcEdit with PSL Plugins and it will tells you which VTS is likely (suspicious) of having a bad/protected sectors from either Macrovision's RipGuard or Sony's ARccOS.

Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!!!
