I have no idea what I am doing, so please be gentle. I am trying to get some old movies from a super 8 video camera to dvd's. I now have them on my hard drive as mpg files. I have tried several different programs to burn them to dvd's but can't get anything that my tv top dvd player will recognize.
I just found this forum and also tried the tmpgenc author program. When I get to the burn page, I get a warning that says the combined bitrate of the clip exceeds the upper limit for a standard dvd.
Is this my problem? How do I fix this?

for me try dto use vegas its has complte package for video editing and such converting extension files like mgp,AVI, 3gp etc.it helps you to a lot try that software then burn it to Nero.
DVD Santa is the best for converting MPEG to NTSC and can be set to the size you want letterbox or standard. I swear by it. You'll see I mention it a lot in other replies. Does exactly what I want it to do.
Thanks for the replies, I didn't recheck the thread after Christmas. I never did get it figured out yet, we had to watch some of the videos on my computer instead.
I have tried using Nero Vision Express with no luck. I must be using some bad settings or something. I also tried different media, the last that I bought was Verbatim.
I will try some of the other suggestions as well, thanks!
