I have successfully backed up several DVD's using DVD Decrypter to rip and Nero Recode 2 to encode. In my latest backup -- March of the Penguins -- I ripped it as usual with Decrypter. However, when I encode the files using Recode 2, there are several, not all, "Extras" that have zero-length audio files, therefore no sound (no sound verified by playing in the preview window).

The original DVD plays everything fine. The ripped files play fine using Nero Showtime so that leads me to believe the ripped files are ok.

I also tried ripping using DVDFabDecrypter and got the same results -- ripped files play fine, but no audio in same files when encoding.

Has anyone ran into this problem before? Is there something I am missing in the ripping or is there a problem in the encoding?

Would appreciate any suggestions.

thanks

run the ripped files thru this free application first, then compress them.http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't tried DVD43 but will give it a look.

I have read about vobblanker in other forums and I have already tried that. Processed all the files without removing anything and still no sound on certain tracks.

I'm new here but here goes, spend the money and buy ANY DVD, probably the absolute best and most often used software I own. I rent my DVD's online and Back them up as soon as I receive them. I do use double pass for burning and they playback flawlessly om ,y RCA 8300. Hope this helps you. Thnx for listening.
