my i/o magic burner will read dvd's but will not read cd's or blank cd-r's, and when i try to burn a dvd it says that the drive is not ready. i dont know what happened because everything was working fine not to long ago. the properties says that the device is working properly. i have no idea what to do.

have you loaded any new software like roxio or packet writing app?

it may have gone to pio mode?? instead of DMA? if so uninstall in device manager and reboot pc...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

is it built into the pc case? or usb? if pc case look here in device manager to see if dma is enabled?

go to my computer and right clcick on a blank white area for the drop down box then go to properties

uninstall from there by clicking into it and uninstall and reboot pc...

i would just try uninstalling roxio as you say and when i try to burn a dvd it says that the drive is not ready.

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

You also may need to update your firmware for your burner. Are these new discs that you just bought?

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

Search for you drive at the above link and then see if you need a firmware update.

Cheers.
