What file type are you trying to compress, and what are you trying or going to do with it?

It was a AVI file but I converted it to DVD so I can burn it onto a disc.The file is to large to put on an ordinary disc.

If you're working with DVD files that are too large to fit on one DVD+/-R then the best way to compress the files is to use DVDshrink.

Use Nero, Roxio, DVDdecrypter, or Imgburn to burn to disk.
