HELP! internet on psp confusion

the psp official website is not helpful at all!!!

anyway, so i found out you can browse the internet on the psp using WLAN or whatever. my question is:

what is WLAN? and how do i even know if i have WLAN????

i tried to setup a connection following the instructions in the manual. i was able to setup a connection, but when i tried to connect to the internet, a thing would always pop-up saying something about a DNS error (i think that's what it's called).

i'd appreciate any help, thank you.

First rule of WLAN, is...

If you have to ask WTF is WLAN?! Then chances are 99.9995⅔, that you DO NOT HAVE A Wireless Router.

So the chances are your going to have to get one. And set it up, for use. Afterwhich you should have something like "WLAN" for your SSID depending on how or if you even have WEP, WPA etc., turned on you'll need to insert that 'Key' into your PSP? too.

As far as the DNS1 and DNS2 Depending on your Firmware Setting(s), Could be the IP address for a PSP Portal. Or the IP Address of your Router. Which would be identical to that of your Gateway. The IP and Subnet of the PSP? must also match that of your Router.

Router - 192.168.0.1
PSP - 192.168.1.x

Subnet (Both PC and PSP), 255.255.255.0

ok in order to access the internet you need

1. a wireless broadband router

2. broadband service (like comcast)

3.(you might want to get broadband anyways because windows vista is going to be broadband only)

and you can no longer use xp when vista comes out

i guess i don't have WLAN, but thank you for explaining it anyway. i just wish i could have internet access so i can play wma files on my psp. oh well.
