I have always used DVD-R but recently read a thread that said if you use DVD+R and booktype it to DVD-ROM it sould play on just about every type DVD player out there. Is this correct, if so how do you perform booktyping to the DVD+R disc? Thanks

Your burner's firmware must support it and it needs to be enabled. But yes it does enhance playability in standalones, especially for +R DL media.

Repost your burner make and model number and someone will help you through the process. In some cases you may need to download modified firmware for booktyping +R and +RW media. Most firmwares support booktyping +R DL media as DVD-ROM. It is usually enabled with a utility program or a burning program like DVD Decrypter.

Your litey is already bitset/ booktype ready. You can use the lite-on booktype utility available here http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441 There is also a link to a usage guide on that page.
