SNES Station with AR Max

Hi. I hope someone can help me out here. I was able to get SNES Station to load on my new Slimline PS2 using a USB pen drive and renaming the .elf to autoexec.elf, and I also was able to swap in a cd with burned ROMs and SNES Station recognizes them and I can choose to run a ROM and everything. But, the problem that I am having is that I can cannot control anything within the game. None of the buttons on my PS2 Controller work, and the into videos for the games just continue playing.

Has anyone else had this problem? The thing is, when I use the PGEN emulator that came with AR Max in the exact same way (putting the autoexec.elf file on my pen drive and then swapping in a CD-R full of ROMs), everything works and I can actually play the games.

Thanks in advance for any help.
