I have a xbox softmodded, and had everything working great, until like a fool I decided to play around with configmagic. I unfortunately unlocked the hard disk, and now I get error 5. I realize that the retail hard disk needs to be locked. How can I relock the hd? Any help is apreciated. Whats the best way not just the easiest.

If you backed up your epprom you can use xboxhdm. If not Im not sure then. But I do know xbins has some lock/unlock tools, I would think you would need your epprom for those but you could give it a last ditch try. Good luck.

I have backed up everything when I did soft mod just need the way to relock hd. I looked at xboxhdm even have it downloaded but wasnt sure if it would work. Thanks for the response I will try xboxhdm.

I have used xboxhdm quit a few times and it has worked great every time if you need a tut on how to build a disk use this http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml it Is more info than you need but it will do the locking/unlocking at the end of the tut. You do not need to rebuild your whole hard drive. If you need more help feel free to ask more questions. Good luck!

problem I cant seem to connect to xbox with my ftp. Do I need to take apart the box and hook the hd to my pc
see the problem is I unlocked my retail hd and now I cant even use retail games

Yes you have to open up your Xbox and remove the hard drive. After you build the xboxhdm disk you disconnect your computer hard drive, put in the Xbox drive in its place and go into your computer bios and have it boot from your cd rom. then from the xboxhdm menu I think it is number 4 option, not the dos version and from there you can lock your drive.
