slow encoding???

i have been using dvd shrink to encode dvd's, i have noticed that now it takes a lot of time to encode dvd. Is there anything i can do to speed up the process of encoding? Like trouble shooting my computer to work better or i just have to go with the flow? Godfather 111 takes 1hr and 30 minutes to encode is that normal?

go to control panel
performance an maintance
system
hardware tab
click on device manager
go to IDE ATA/ATAPI controller
look for secondary IDE channel its like the third one down an delete it
once deleted restart your comp an boom your done

encoding used to be 1:30 min. for godfather 3, now after i uninstall primary and secondary IDE...encoding time for the same movie is now 27 min. tops...
