hi, i just got a xecuter3CE modchip and I'm getting ready to flash it and install evox and all that..although i heard that it would be a good idea to back up the original xbox bios or whatever, make an image of it. I've tried hooking it up to my pc but it didn't see it in windows (found it but didn't display it)..i'm pretty sure it's using a different file system. Does anyone know how can I back it up before playing around with it?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, XBOX uses FatX.
There are a few way you can backup the most important file which is the EEPROM. The easiest way is through FTP. I can help you with specific direction but I need to know which way you will attempt to make your connection. Will it be over a network (router) or via a direct connection with crossover cable?

Another way is via a hotswap and copy the entire image to your PC as is. You can position your XBOX close to your PC like normal. Boot up the XBOX and once the flubber screen displays, unplug the IDE cable from the xbox hdd and switch it to an IDE on your PC. Go thru the Device manager and "scan for hardware changes"...you should see the disc being recognized. Then use a program called "HDD DRIVER" to copy an image of your XBOX hdd to your PC. When done, disconnect.

The FTP method is by far the easiest and with it all you'll need are the C & E drives or like I said ATLEAST the EEPROM.

Hey, thanks alot for that info but I decided I'll just keep the original hard disk aside and use a larger one. Wouldn't that be a gd idea? cuz i just want the original one in case smth happens to the modchip or wtv or if I want to play online. So tell me wat u think, should i back it up or just leave it aside. Thanks alot
