Hi I am very new to this stuff. What I was wondering was if I use dvd shrink do I need a dvd burner to put it on a disc.

DVD's are different than CD's and require a specific reader/burner to handle the media.

A DVD-ROM will allow you to view movies on you computer, but you would need a DVD burner to copy them to a backup disc.
