I've searched various threads about good media/bad media but have not seen a database or a definitive list about to buy just what not to buy. I bought some Sony mainly just because they were on sale and needed some discs, at this point I was unaware against bad/good just trying to save some bucks. Well I have a 50 pack spindle of these Sony discs and need to know if they are good quality. This information came from DVD Identifier as the spindle cover got thrown away some time ago.......

I've seen alot about product codes and this product code is better than that. Is there a link or database I could use to check the product I want to buy. Product code don't mean much to me if I don't know what it means

Jackpot!!!!!!!!! Look at the label closely and they'll say Made In Japan!!!!

I picked up 3 of those spindles at staples a few weeks ago. The japanese fuji +8x,in the 30 pack multicolored tubs will also have some Ty's thrown in them. That's why I check those labels real good.

The taiwanese sony +1x-8x are also pretty good.SonyD11 is the MID code for them. Same identical packaging,but Made in Taiwan on the blue labels.Those tubs will be mixed in with the taiyo yuden tubs-same price for either!

Looking for Made in Japan on labels also works well with maxell media. The japanese spindles will be Hitachi,and the taiwanese will usually be ritek-pretty good, and a slim chance of cmags! UGGH!
