Disc Skipping backup

So Ive learned my lesson thanks to some kind folks on this forum and have kicked my CMC's to the curb and bought some great Sony media discs made in japan Taiyo yuden, but the problem is, I have some discs that I burned on CMC's that I want to back up on my shiny new media but... if the CMC discs are hiccupy and skippy is it wise to rip from these discs onto the new media? I hear isobuster is great for retrieving media from discs thought to be lost hopes, is this true?
Basically, should I rip from these discs are start all over again?
If the rip works fine will the new disc be skippy like the old one?

IMHO, if you can re-rip from the orignonal you will be better off.
Odds are that the bad sectors on your copys causing the skipping are corrupted. I wouldn't want to chance it ruining my TY's.

yeah, I was thinking better safe than sorry, I REALLY dont want to screw up these new discs. Except i dont have the originals, they are uhh... downloaded material *cough*... so I guess I'll be redownloading like a mofo in most cases.

You can try Iso Buster Pro 1.8, CD Check to extract or rip the files into hard drive and hopefully you'll get a successful extracting them files from your *cough, cough* CMC MAG disc. Or you can try to have DVD Decrypter to do a re-rip into your hard drive (*NOTE: make sure you check "ignore read errors" on the settings).

If you use Decrypter besides doing an ignore read errors, i would set my software read setting to 2 or so:
This speeds things up. But you will still be getting errors. Depends on how many you can live with. Best bet is to redo from original, how ever you get it. (don't mention how you get your original movie, and everything will be cool here). Don't want anyone to violate forum rules by accident.

I'm using Ridek(sp)03's and I'm getting skipping but not until about 60-75 minutes into the dvd. It's like all my dvd's have errors three quarters in. I'm going to try different media but could all my dvd's have the same thing?

sounds like it MIGHT be a problem with the outer edge of the dye...are you burning ALL THE WAY to the edge?
if so, using whichever prog. u are using, roll back the limit further away from the edge...make the burn limit/size around 4300 or thereabouts...

I hadn't checked that, and it does say the disk is at 4.35 and you can usually see where the recording has stopped and on mine you can't. I'll shrink it down below 4.3 and see what happens.

edit: i believe rspar meant the burning too close to the edge...setting it @4300 fixed it~ :) i'm assuming he's still using the same discs, but now with no skipping/playback issues on newly burned movies~
