I'm considering buying a pack of 25 Verbatim 16x DVD+Rs off amazon and I wanted to make sure they aren't a fake, since I live in Brazil and it would be a real hassle to exchange them... are these really the best ones?
here's the site from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0003QIXBY/qid=1135693840/sr=8-9...
thx for everything! I wish you all a merry post-christmas!

I tried replying earlier but had trouble.Anyone else having trouble getting on here at AD?

Those are excellent, mitsubishi media! You should be ok. I've also ordered full hub printables there and they are a reputatable store.

There's a drawback to those 16x verbs. Watch how slow you burn them. For me and my benqs, they scan a heck of a lot better at 8x and 12x burn speed.Better than 4x and avoid burning these at 2.4x.I had too many read errors at the 2.4x speed.

Hopefully your firmware will handle these 16x speed discs.Slim possibiity of updating that fw.

What is the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?

It's a bummer living in brazil. Up here, that cost is double! For $15,you can get 50 of these same verbs at best buy!

Merry New Year!

I have a Samsung TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U burner and my current firmware is US07. Do they burn well with my drive?

AMD Athlon 1.0Ghz, 384MB of RAM, 40GB Western Digital Hard Drive, Samsung TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U (US07 firmware) Burner. That's about all I have... I hate to brag... *cough*...

I don't know much on samsung drives.I don't see a whole lot of them out here in the forums. That may be good news because of few issues? LOL

I know lite-on and benq 16x drives love those MCC-004 coded verbs. They perform better at the faster 8x and 12x speeds for these drives.

I really hope that's why we don't see many posts about the samsung drive... I really really do hope that's the reason... LOL....

you should be just fine...you did indeed get some excellent media there in the Verbs 16x DVD+R MCC004s~ :)

my friend has a Samsung drive, it works well, but i personally have no experience with Samsung drives...but, as saugmon recommended, and as my friend also told me of his success on his Samsung drive...burn those 16x rated media @8x or higher if need be...DO NOT go down to 4x as after comparing scan results on 16x media with me...he ALSO has better scan results @8x on the MCC004s...

i have both Liteons and Benq drives, as well as Pioneer and NECs...while that has nothing to do with Samsung drives...i have found MY best scans to be @ 8x on GOOD QUALITY media...such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim...that's not to discredit people suggesting to burn @4x..that's a very good point...but, SOMETIMES it does depend on what you are working with and SOME drives burn BETTER @8x~ :)

good luck...i have quite a few friends from brazil...sexy hunnies they are... :) hehehe

LOL, I say that all the time. It comes from the movie Trading Places with eddie murphy/dan akroyd/and jamie lee curtis. You get to see her melons in that one, whoooo-hoooo!

Very funny when eddie murphy says Merry New year.He sounds jamaican when he says that.

Merry New Year to you too Phildias! Burn those verbs ups!

phildias, that is quality media.
Are you using the internal or external usb2 version of that Samsung drive?

Don't know if this will help you but i owned the external usb2 version of that drive and had problems with any media that was rated at over 4x write speed (even with the latest firmware). The media that i had very, very good burns on are hard to find now but they might be worth hunting around for if you have problems with the 16x dvd+rs.

My best results came when using Verbatim DVD+R 4x, media id: MCC-002-00 writing at 2x.

Hope the 16x verbs work a treat for you, good luck!
