how to connect my DVD writer (NEC 3550)to my pc desktop

i took out my cd writer that came with my computer and insted put the dvd writer but im having problems coping my dvds

in my dvd Decrypter i put MODE>ISO>READ and then after it was done i put MODE>ISO>WRITE and it said

FAILED TO RESERVE TRACK
REASON: INVALID FIELD IN CDB

i need help!!

When ever you install a new drive you should always made sure that the transfer mode for the device is set up for "DMA if available". To do so go Control panel-->System-->Hardware tab-->Device manager, click on the plus sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, right click on the IDE channel the recorder is connected to and choose properties then click on the advanced settings tab.

Now check to see if there is a firmware update available for your recorder, if there is, upgrade since upgrades add support for more media types (this alone could solve your problem).

If you're burning with DVDdecrypter set it to write at 4X, remember if the ISO file size is larger than can fit on single layer DVD+/-R (4.7 gb) then you'll need dual layer DVDs.

Use good quality media for your backups (usually made in Japan)
