I'm looking at the 50-pack deal for $99.50. Shipping is almost $20 but this is the best deal I can find for dual layered media. Does anybody know if this is a good deal or if there is another place to get some discs cheaper?

$4.89 shipping is def. a lot better than $20 LOL~ :)

i have about 4 spindles of these 25-pack Ritek Ridata DLs, i have gone through about 2 1/2 so far and have yet to produce a coaster...just make sure your firmware is up to date on your particular drive...

i PREFER the Verbatims DVD+R DL over these, but i HAVE HAD very good success with the Ritek Ridata ones...

both media IDs are in my sig...

good luck

I bought 10 Ridata +R DL's for $25 Canadian at a small PC store in Toronto - Sonnam @ Spadina/College St. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I have some Fuji +R DL's sitting around but read nothing but negative to indifferent comments about them. Shame if they suck. They were 3 for $7.99.

The Ridata are sometimes Ricoh media as well. Both the Ritek and Ricoh media usually burn fine as long as your firmware is up to date, meaning you have a relatively recent DL burner with updated firmware. The stock firmware most burners come with doesn't do a good job. There's no substitute for Verbatim however. It's $20US at OfficeMax this week per 10-pack.

as laddyboy said, you should be FINE with both those DL media ID coding...just MAKE SURE UR FIRMWARE is up to date on your drives...this is most commonly THE cause of issues/negative comments regarding DL media...MOST of the time it's "operator error" or their lack of knowledge before proceeding with burning their DL media~ :)

people will blame everything under the sun before they admit it's THEIR fault...just be intelligent about DL media...don't be a smuck and blame it on the media if you can't do it right, that's what AfterDawn is for...to GET YOU TO SUCCESSFULLY burn again once you experience issues...i'll be more than happy to help you with DL burns in the future, once we get your system all sorted out and i can pinpoint issues (if there are any in the future), i'll get you going in no time~ :)
