Hello everyone,

I just purchased a Phillips DVP642 and was wondering if it was possible to play DivX/Xvid movies directly off of a DVD disc on this particular player. The reason I ask is because the owners manual states that the player can only play DivX/Xvid files off of a CD-R/CD-RW disc.

*Nevermind, I found the answer. If I am correct the player can play Divx/Xvid on DVDs.

If it plays them from cd's, then it plays them from dvd's as well.

Yes I believe it plays both - well, it reads DVDs obviously, and if it recognises an AVI file on CD it should also on DVD, right?
The amazing thing actually, is that it plays from CD - that's kewl ;^)
There's another guy in this forum with one of these Philips, and he's trying to get it to work...
Help him out milviel, if you get yours working.
