Is it possible to back up a movie just to the hard drive using DVD Shrink without having to burn it on to a DVD? If so, how can one do it?

Thanks for all responses.

Don't know about Shrink but I believe it can be done using DVDdecrypter.

DVDshrink ,DVDdecrpypter, and DVDFab decrypter all rip the DVD files to your hard drive (files are ripped to a VIDEO_TS folder can be converted to a ISO image when using DVDshrink or DVDdecrpypter), once there It's up to you to decide what to do with them. You can burn them to DVD or convert the files ripped to a VIDEO_TS folder to MPEG2 format using DVD2AVI for viewing on your hard drive.

get dvd2avi here:

You can also use Media Player Classic to watch the ISO image, and no other conversions are necessary. It is available here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/me...

I'm sorry I badly stated the question. What I meant to ask was if I can backup an already compressed file from DVD Shrink to the harddrive without having to burn it to a DVD?

Thanks again

No problem, I learn everyday too. I like to keep it simple, because I'm not too tech savvy.

The answer is yes...you can either use DVD Shrink to create the ISO file on your HDD or DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode (better choice) and then watch the movie from your HDD with the program that I provided for you in my previous post.
