The only thing I can find on my burner is the atapi 2x16x4x16 because it was a present last year and dont know the brand .. Is there a way I can see? also there was a site before i could look up which dvd media would work ith what....any one know what site it is..and tell me which my media is like TY000 somthing or to the effect of that..

Get VSO Inspector. It'll get the media manufacturer and info on your dvd burner.

http://www.vso-software.fr/download.php

DVD Identifier will also get media details.
http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Check out the following site too for info on your drive and how it handles certain media.

The only problem with that would be that I cannot see the media thru those programs...for the fact my dvd burner isnt reading the disc...its just saying no media present...

I mean even if its the crapiest media in the world shouldnt it still read the disc?!

this has been bothering me, any help?

I had a DVD burrner go bad on me. it stoped reading and burrning DVD's but it would read CD and burn CD-R.

So check and see if this happens with another brand of DVD's other then the ones your using.

Also make sure your drive can read the type of disc that you have. If your have a DVD+R burner it will not read DVD-R. same as the other way around.
