can any of you more knowledgeable users tell me if there is a program to verify a burned copy? I've been having trouble lately...dvdsthat I thought were fine crapped out at various points.Hadnt been watched since they we're burned,so I assumed they were ok.......sometimes they freeze, sometimes the voice and picture will unsync...also,is it better to use something like decrypter, and burn from a seperate source, such as Nero? Or use an all in one, such as Shrink? Thanks in advance....

could be CRC errors on the disc (data corruption). this can be from using crap blank discs (very common problem), burning at too high a speed etc, and burning right to outer edge of discs (on crap discs), etc.
you can use dvdinfopro (free monthly trial from www.dvdinfopro.com - select version with adverts) and use it for CRC scanning.
what burning program you using at the moment ?

Making a legal backup of DVDs you own can be done using DVD Decrypter to rip it to your hard drive,DVD Shrink to fit it to a blank DVD(try using quality blank DVD+R from Sony),then burn it using Nero burning rom and check the "verify disc contents" option before burning.
