For the past week, I have tried to copy DVD's I have made with Nero 6 ultra. Movies that I have taped around town and such, home movies. When I try to make a copy, I get an error in DVD 43..

Access violation at address 00462e33 in module 'dvd43_tray.exe'. Read of address 00000004.

Anyone know what this means? I am using dvd 43 v3.7

After this error the player, Nero Show time, says the drive is not ready and the computer has to be hard rebooted.

So I try my purchased copy of 'Ray' and I get the same thing. I then tried other DVD's that I have copied in the past without any trouble and they all give me the same error.

The only time I get the little smiley face in my tast bar, is when I boot with the DVD in place. It looks mad all through the booting process! and then I get the error before I can even start my player.

If I start the player first, then insert the DVD, it searches the DVD for the longest time, several minutes. and then gets the error message.

My machine is an Intel board, with 512mb ram, 700mhz PIII, 60gb free on the hard drive. Running XP home w/sp2.

I tried the free version of DVDfab decrypter, and it took about 7 hours to read a 2 hour dvd and then I got a file error when I tried to burn the dvd with dvd shrink and Nero.

phonetrbl ,
Welcome to the forum. Uninstall DVD43 as you do not need that program to do home movies. D/L a free Registry cleaner and clean the registry of any conflicts as they will cause problems like this. Can you go into Device Manager and tell us how many Yellow flags are showing. 7 hours to rip a movie means you really have problems w/ your computer. Could be the burner is ready to go to the DVD Gods for burial

ok, removed DVD 43 and cleaned the registry. Don't I need DVD 43 to use the DVD Decrypter though?

There are no errors in my device manager and without DVD 43 running, all DVD's insert and play just fine. I don't know if the decrypter will make a successful file just yet, as I just started it, without DVD 43 installed.

Below is a guide one of the members here did and it uses all freeware. If you follow the guide you will have no problems. DVD43 does cause problems w/ some systems

The problem is solved...
Two hardware problems came to light during all this...
First the DVD needed cleaning, it had only burned about 10 DVD's.
Second, the main hard drive for data storage crashed and had to be reformated.
Thanks for all your help.

ps.. I did find that I can use DVD 43, Nero and DVD Shrink 3.2 and it is almost a 1 step process to create my backups.
