I recently bought a Benq 1625 LightScribe Burner, and I am very happy with the outcome. I am using Verbatim Lightscribe disc's, +R and Booktyping, burning at 4x.
But there seems to be a problem now. The last few disc's that I tried to play, would show up as "Invalid Disc" on my portable DVD Player and when I try to play it on my regular stand alone player, it plays, but it might take up to 5 to 10 minutes to recognize the disc. This is not a normal behavour.
Is it posible I got a bad batch of Verbatim Disc's? I am not doing anything different than before.
Thanks in advance for your comments,
JBurden

Sorry about that. I used DVD Shrink to create an ISO file, and burned the image with DVD Decrypter (Booktype) at 4x speed.
Did I miss anything else?

I had a HP640c lightscribe burner which was a rebadged BenQ, replaced it with a 740a Plextor which is also a BenQ but no lightscribe capabilities. I also have the BenQ 1625 purchased from NewEgg and installed in the wifes computer. Anyway, the few lightscribe disks I did had problems in my players also. I would have to eject and reload the disk a couple times before it was recognized. I too used Verbatim. I did have some problems burning these disks with Decrypter and ImgBurn using iso write. Try ripping with Decrypter in file mode and then using Nero to burn, it seems IMHO to work out better.

Quote: I had a HP640c lightscribe burner which was a rebadged BenQ
I thought the HP 640E or the 640F-one or the other?: Was the rebadged benq 1625.
I've also got the HP640c lightscribe and it doesn't even come close to performing like a benq. Stand alone compatability is half that of a booktyped benq backup.Too many read errors on it as well on the HP backups. I just replaced my litey 167T with that 640c lightscribe.I'll burn the lightscribe media with my benqs and use the lightscribe burning of my 640c. It worked on my dad's 640c,but I got issues with my own.Something with sonic's express labeler program. I need the original disc and can't find where mine-if it even came with the pc.
jburden78: I'll agree with anrniebear.I play my backups on quite a variety of drives and the burn engine of Nero is more compatable than dvd decrypter's burn engine.Try to give nero6 a shot. I don't know about nero7. Too many issues with that new version of Nero.

@Saugmon
I got the disk that came with mine the Sure Thing Labelmaker if you want the prog, just PM me. Found out with both my BenQ 1625 and the HP that I needed to dl the Universal Lightscribe controller to get mine to burn the art correctly, kept getting errors that it could not burn at good quality only draft. Once I installed that the programs were fine.
I too had issues with the 640c I was getting freezes in playback and then when using imgburn got dark rings in the disk almost like overburn. It would burn the iso fine with Sonic but not Decrypter or imgburn.

Thanks for all your responces. Now that I think of it, I suppose the one thing that I did experiment with was the DVD Decrypter burning engine. I just didn't think that it would make that much of a difference.
I just burned the same disc using Nero and it works perfectly on all players! I guess I learned my lesson. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all!

Glad you got her fixed jburden78.
Just a slight difference in burn engines and some stand alones can be picky on which burn engine they prefer. Lots of weird stuff like this can happen when it comes to stand alones reading dvd backups.
Happy Holidays!
