Hi I have a simple but what seems complicated question I would like to convert My ripped DVD Video_TS into one single MPG file so that I can keep them in my PC most are Music Videos , I would eventually like to add My converted Music Videos into a DVD-R. Since the ripped Video_TS are split into VOB, BUP , and IFO my quest is to convert each Video_TS to MPG2 so that I can merge my music videos into DVD-R.
I have other Music Videos that are in a single mpeg file that were uploaded from the internet, and as these are not Video_TS files.
if someoene can guide me into the right direction It would be much appreciated.

Hello vamps_2,

Here's a guide for you(I'm assuming the music videos were downloaded(not uploaded) legally):

1.Convert each music video to a video_ts file using WinAvi(free trial available)

2.Combine all the VOB files in each video_ts file using VOB-edit(freeware)

3.Create one single ifo file for all using IFO-edit(freeware)

4.Burn to a single DVD using any DVD burning software

VOB-edit and IFO-edit should have tutorials(check forums).

So this should be a step in the right direction for you.Good luck.

The easiest way would have been to Simply Rip the DVD as a Big VOB/Mpeg-2 file....If you used "Smartripper" it can Rip the Whole Movie as a Single Big VOB/Mpeg-2 file with Just the audio Track you want....

You could also use "Womble Mpeg2VCR" to Join all of the VOB Files into a Single Big Mpeg-2 file without any quality Loss.....

Hi Minion , and at this point I am playing with MPEG Video Wizard,I am not sure if this would be the same as Mpeg2VCR I have read that they are from the same company MPEG Video Wizard Being Newer and supposedly better, Also What would be the settings that I should use with with smart ripper or DDcrypter, I am really new to this and any Guided suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also I am not sure as to what settings I should use with MPEG Video Wizard (if this is possible) to be able to join all of the VOB files into a single big Mpeg2 file. thank you

P.S My goal is to convert the Video_TS files
into one Big Mpeg2 file and back them up in an External
Drive for future Editing.

The "Mpeg video wizard 2005" is a More Full featured editor were Mpeg2VCR is More of a Basic Cut and Paste editor but both have many of the Same Features....

When Saveing a file in Mpeg Video Wizard you do not Change any of the settings you Just use the Default settings because if you Change them then Your Whole File will have to be re-encoded which will Lower the quality and Take a Very long Time, If you Leave the Export settings the way they are then it should render your Mpeg-2 file in just a Few Minutes.....

Cheers

Hi Minion, I did change the setting to DVD NTSC (*.mpg) what would be the Default setting? As I don't remember the Default setting. I am really excited about learning to Convert so I guess I jumped the gun.

Hi Minion , what settings should I use with smart ripper in order to simply rip the DVD as a big VOB/Mpeg-2 file . I have used smart ripper to rip the DVD with the default settings, I then open the Video_TS files with MPEG Video Wizard through Project Manager, Add them to the timeline in the video track only and merge the 2 files that go together, I then click on the Export button save the file in a folder. The Export Monitor comes up Export is quick, I go to the folder where I saved the Exported file and it is 1 MPEG 2 File the only thing is that it reads in the details that the size is 6.07GB which I believe is still a very big file. This One Music video Collection that I saved as an MPEG file in my PC that was downloaded from the Internet and it reads in the detail size as 771.MB or 789,752 KB. So As a Tester I have ripped the same Music Video Collection and used the MPEG Video Wizard to Export the Video_TS files as One MPEG-2 file but the detail size is 6.07 GB.

I am not sure at this point what settings to use so the Converted or Exported file will not be so big since I am trying to save space in my PC. Any suggestions on settings would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerly

Well you never said that you wanted the File to Be Smaller you Just said that you wanted the Video_TS to be Converted into a Mpeg-2 file and when useing the "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard" the Saved mpeg-2 file will be exactly the same size as the VOB files that you created the Mpeg-2 files From....

Also if you Used SmartRipper to Rip the DVD as a Big VOB file the file size would still be the same....If you want the files to be Smaller you have to use an encoder or DVD Backup program to Rip out the unwanted streams to make it smaller and if it isn"t small enough then it can add Compression...You can use Something Like "DVD-Shrink" to Rip out the Unwanted streams and to compress the video so that the Video_TS folder is Smaller and when it is Small enough you can then Join the Files or Do whatever it is you are trying to do....

Cheers
