DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH IS A GOOD PRINTABLE MEDIA TO USE THAT DOESNT HAVE THE PURPLE BACKING, OR LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE AN ORIGINAL DVD.

THANKS

TY is best. As for the purple dye, get over it. Commercial discs are pressed and do not use dye, hence, the silver color. "Burn-able" media uses dyes....

to answer your question, try verbatim printables and ritek printables.
try newegg.com as well as what teflonmyk suggested.

good media is good media..

it would be the same guidelines as if they were regulars...

they just have the option of you being able to print on them

Hi,

To ask a very stupid question, whats the difference between printable media and non-printable? Aren't you able to burn on both?

I'm just asking what does "printable" refer to in this case?

Once again sorry for the stupid question!

printable means that the disk allows you to print directly to it with a printer. basically, my printable disks that i have look like original dvd's that you buy or rent.

I just brought an Epson R340 and it prints great on the cd/dvd, I tell ya, it beats printing a label and sticking it on the cd/dvd. I brought a 50pk memorex from compusa on sale and I havent has a coaster. Now the lifespan of the media, i dont know, but I trust the forums advice here, and will try the suggested ones when i've used up the others.

thanks

take a look at this thread and you'll see why !

scroll down about half way to arossetti's reply... but read the whole thread.
CMC MAG is absolute junk media !!

Got my R340 from Compusa for $129 after rebate, love compusa also purchased their RP(replacement plan)which comes in handy, had my share of high$ items I had to either pay to repair or replace myself. Have you had to replace the ink as yet, do you use the original ink or compatible ink?

you mention the threading for the memorex, since i dont know what i am looking for im at a lost.

@ tsquare43......... yup, got it like a few weeks ago at best buy. and still advertised at that price. $199 bucks, $50 gift card, $30 gift card, plus i had a 10% coupon, made it 100 bucks..

@ noinsults, still using the same ink, i have printed around 20 dvd covers, 25 dvds, various other prints, it shows to have only used a 1/4 of the ink so far..
but this place sells ink for cheap..
http://www.abacus24-7.com/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R340.htm

and where you are confused on that thread........ just don't buy memorex... buy good stuff like verbatim, fuji, ty, sony, maxell (made in japan) stuff, verb is the exception, made in taiwan !

There's some confusion between printable media. You have thermal printable-use special printer to heat the label on the disc. Those discs will be all shiny on the top.

Then you have White inkjet printable Media. There are 2 kinds of inkjet printable white media. Regular-which is further away from the center hub. Any my preference-Full hub printable. These will print to the hub.

Lastly, You have Shiny Inkjet printable. These will look like the thermals, but the ink won't adhere to them. Alkyhol has a lot of those shiny inkjet printable pictures in his signature if you run a search for some of alky's posts. They do have a different look to them. I think they have regular and full hub shiny inkjet printables. I'd like to get a hold of some full hubs.

Ordering on the web, make sure you know which ones you want to purchase.

@gear79

thanks for the link, those are some good prices. When printing I usually scan the original cd/dvd and paste it on the printable, maybe that what uses up the ink quickly.

Thanks for all your help, don't want to become a pest, but all this new information is GREAT!!!!, however, i downloaded one of the covers, but when i tried to open it to print it, it said a suitable graphic importer could not be found, I have no idea what this means. When saving it with the 'art' extension. I saved it to my desktop, but no luck.

thanks

Go to the site like covers.to,which is my favorite site, and find your label. Go for the highest resolution as possible.

Download that cover

After it download-right click save picture as,and put it into your folder for covers.Create a folder in My Pictures and title it Covers. You can download all those covers to that folder. That's the folder you'll fish out for both disc and case covers.

I just use windows picture and fax viewer to do my case covers. Just open up your cover folder-print-tick your cover-select size and type of photo paper-do not crop that cover picture, use full page/centered to fit. Then you'll trim off the white excess paper to perfectly fit your original vinyl case.

For disc covers:

Click epson print cd/Import/picture: There you'll fish out that cover file in my pictures-open it/ and tick the one/s you want. It'll then open up that cover onto that built in size template screen. You may have to stretch it to fit. Then double check your size targets-full hub/reg hub/and click the print icon. Full hub,it'll warn you because it is set to 20 mms,so you'll ignore it and print away.

@ noinsults...

i agree with saugmon.... i use both of those sites often...

but i wanted to give you a variety along with a search page so you can choose from.

sometimes cdcoverz has a few problems with the site...
but as far as your error goes, perhaps you software for the printer is not right, maybe a .dll file missing or corrupted.
can you print normally other pages?
try another site just in case to verify.
other then that, i am not 100% sure what your problem may be.
