Since Ritek was suggested as a good printable media, are there any special grades that i should look for? Is this a good one for the price.

Those should code out as Ritek-G05,but the price seems too high. Unless you want the full hub thermals. I've gotten thermal printable tys for well under 25 cents each-Ty-g01.

No stack ring: Means the discs will be stacked on top of each other, shrink wrapped, and shipped in a box. No plastic spindle case/s.

You need to get INKJET printables (not thermal) if you plan on printing directly to disc with your Epson...

How can I tell if my disc are printable? They are Starlogics but the MID is Princo. They have a blank white smooth surface. I got them for Christmas and also the Epson R320 printer which I haven't hooked up yet.

The discs burned fine at 4x but I haven't watched them yet.

the inkjet printables will have that white top surface that you have.
some are full hub printable, others are like a normal dvd , where it leaves an inside ring (non printable)
that epson you have will print right to them. (excellent printer btw) i have the R340.

then you have thermal printables, which have the shiney metallic look, a bit more pricey, but well worth the money, especialy if you do a lot of back-ups and like to have the image on the dvd.
once you get your printer set up, for a full printable disc, use settings 21x119 for the image to fit perfectly. others use slightly different specs, like 18x120, 19x119....etc.
you'll just have to play with it for what you like.

good luck

newtechie- If they did'nt come generically wrapped check your wrapper it would probably say inkjet printable ! if not it could be not inkjey printable or thermal printable in which case the ink from your epson will not adhere properly and the dvd will look like crap ! if your dvd's did not come with any information as to what type of printable they are or maybe ! The easiet way to find out is to fire up the epson & print one ! If it comes out looking cool & coommercial/proffessional looking they are inkjet printables id they come out blurry nasty & messy looking oh well Probably not right ! either way the worst that could happen is you lose 1 disc well only the label side actually !Sometimes you either have to fish or cut bait lil' buddy ! Good luck & happy burning!

@gear and @bigtoxy69

Thanks for the info guys! Unfortunately I don't think the discs are printable. I printed one last night and it printed out blurry and if I touched the ink it would smear. Oh well, at least I know now but I love this new printer!

Do any of the local stores sell printable dvds or do I have to order them online?

Thanks again.

i got my printables from newegg.com
try the supermediastore.com... make sure they say 'printable' on the listing.
they have white tops or the siler tops which are the shiney type.. gives you that holographic look.

I usually get my full hub inkjet printable media at Wal-mart when in a pinch,or Office depot. They have the Maxell full hubs, and make sure the label says made in Japan. The japanese maxells are made by Hitachi. These will code as Maxell-002-00

Verbatim makes some sweet full hub printables. MCC-003 will be their MID code.

How do you know what code/grade the printable dvds are, does it say on the packaging?

@ noinsults.. it will not say the code on the label. but it will say where it was made.

look for the ones made in japan... verbatim is the exception, made in taiwan.

when you buy blank media, run it through this program to ID your blanks.
