there is no quality difference between DVD plus R and DVD dash R ,there just different formats ,if you do use DVD plus R booktype them to DVD-ROM,that makes them the most compatible with standalone dvd players.i use DVD dash R with NO problem playing in all the dvd players i thrown them at

best media is Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim by far

worst is memorex cmc mag, total crap
