I am very confused.

1. Does media Bran realy matter when it comes to DVD media?
2. Does writting speed matter? if it does matter, what speed is good to write to DVD -+R or even plain CDs?
3. If I want to create DVD movies, will writting speed matter for standalone players to read it?
4. If I write cd or dvd at 2x, does it mean it will be read at 2x?

thanks in advance.. answers will clear my foggy mind a bit :)

Heres my answers, however others may disagree
1. Yes, always use good quality media, I recommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim
2 I also writing at a slow speed, around 4x
3yes, the slower the speed, the better the burn
4. No it will be read at the speed of the disc.

Join the club?. Confusion is the name of the game LOL.

No 1 Brand is not as important as who manufactured the disc. Memorex is a famous and very well known brand but, their disc are made by poor companies and most of the time SUCK.

No 2 Writing speed goes along with the quality of the disk. The better the disc the better the burn at a higher speed. Even though I never burn a disc at more than ½ the advertised speed. That is; if it?s a 8x disc, I will burn at 4x, 16x at 8x and so on? I use verbatim 16x, but only burn at 8x. They will handle a 16x burn but I don?t push the envelope.

No 3 The speed of writing doesn?t matter to the player but, faster burns equal more chance for a poor burn.. Therefore, poor reads.

No 4 NO. No matter what speed you burn it at, it is read at the speed of the player?See No. 3
