Problem Ripping a DVD+R - Nero InfoTool

Hello,
I am having a problem ripping, or even reading, a DVD+R that someone has made.
I have Nero Burning ROM installed on my machine which also comes with Nero InfoTool.
When I select this it shows DVD+R and DVD+RW as checked in the checkbox.
In the section that says Supported Read Features all that is NOT checked is DVD-RAM, as I would expect.
In the section that says Supported Write Features all that is NOT checked is DVD-RAM, again, as I would expect.
However, when I insert the DVD+R into my drive Windows Explorer sees it as a CD Drive still and I can't see and files inside it. Also, I can't play it in WMP9.
The DVD is definately not blank as I can see where it has been burned to, but I cant understand why it wont read????
Sadly, I have no other DVD+R/DVD+RW to test the drive with.
Any pointers are appreciated.

The authored DVD+R you have might not have been set to Book type:DVD-ROM when it was burned,otherwise the DVD drive should have no trouble reading it.

Sounds like your burner doesn't like the media used.
Who does infotool show as the disc manufacturer?
I would also make sure your drives firmware is up to date. This 'teaches' your drive the different media, speeds etc.

Hello again, I am currently downloading ISOBuster 1.9 from that link you sent me. I wasn't 100% sure what it said it would do, but i'll give it a try.
I'm not too sure about the "Book type:DVD-ROM" the DVD+R was made with CloneDVD3, is that an option that can be set when writing?
In all honesty, I dont want to mess about with the Firmware if it can cause problems as it is not actually my PC and I wouldnt want to cause lasting damage as you can imagine.......
I've noticed you mentioned the Disc Manufacturer, if you are referring to the actual DVD+R then it is Emtec (formerly BASF).
Else InfoTool doesnt seem to mention a manufacturer??

Hi crmpicco,
Does the DVD+R play in any stand alone DVD player? If it doesnt then that DVD might be corrupt or burned at too high a speed(8x or more). If you want to make a 1:1 copy of a previously authored DVD try Alcohol 120% and see if it works,if not chances are its the DVD+R thats defective.

Hello,
I have inserted the DVD+R into my drive and ran ISOBuster, it recognises the DVD+R and shows the .VOB .BUP and .IFO files.
I have now tried using ISOBuster to rip the DVD and it gave me three options down the side. ISO, UDF and IFO.
UDF and IFO doesn't work with the free version, so I selected ISO (right-click > EXTRACT).
Now, this is where it goes wrong, it gets to 6% with no errors then it gives me an Error Message:
Unreadable Sector

Sector 12460 couldn't be read
Error 03/11/05
Then I have three radio buttons to select:
Omit Sector,
Replace all with zeros,
Replace with dummy data

I'm going to try it with Alcohol 120%.
Am i right in saying that takes an IMAGE of the DVD+R?
I am about 75% sure that it has worked in a DVD+R compatible DVD-Player. I have 2 DVD players available to me at the moment, but neither seem to play the disc (or indeed DVD+R discs).
The disc was burned at the end of last year and i (think) he checked it in his player......
