Guys,

I've been using the PSP on v1.5 using a 2gb stick, everything was OK, £100 for a stick but it was worth it when I had 15 games.

One problem, my 2gb stick has gone, bad sectors and unusable.

So, my point is, what have I got now? A nice shiny black..........

I have a 64mb card and can load the loaders onto that and play inserted UMD's but that's exactly what a 2.5 version could do. I'm considering upgrading and cutting my losses.

Something to consider guys......

Be Lucky,

Maybe i can help you with your memory stick. It may not be bad. Had a problem myself. Does the orange light flash on and off continously when the psp is trying to read the memory stick but it wont recognize that it is present in the drive?????? If so i know how to fix. Just let me know what is up.

first i would format it using a memory card reader if you get bad sectors i think if you use goole there is a drive cleaner type prog that will help you

then once you have done that format it again with the psp

it should then work again

unless you dropped it in a pot of tea or something

I would buy the stick!

Some people problem can be solved without buying a new memory stick and wasting money. Several people online had been reporting that their memory sticks had gone bad and would not read in the drives on the PSP. The orange light would just keep flashing and the PSP wouldnot let them format the disk b.c it would keep saying that there was no disk inserted into the drive. I had the same problem on more than one occassion. All i had to do was press the memory stick in all the way but not let it go for it to lock in place. If i held the MS in with my finger for a few sec before i let it go and lock in place it solved my problem. This may not help everyone but i know i have heard several other complain of this same issue. Anyone else have the orange light flashing and it wont recognize the MS give it a try and let me know if it worked for you too..

I have exactly the same problem and I think I know what caused it? I was dropping a game on to a 2 gig card showing what was I think to be 1244mb free....the game size was 1212mb so I thought I was ok to do this but then a cyclic reduncy error appeared on my pc screen as it got to the end of dropping the game on to the stick and when I looked at the psp the memory card was not showing at all. Now I have the same problem as you guys....the psp states no memory card inserted and the orange stick light just flashes and in usb mode the pc is stating there is no storage device :( Is my stick buggered or is there a way of fixing the stick without the method used above of holding the stick in before letting go? (I've tried that for ages and it didn't work at all lol.) Is there a certain amount of space that needs to be left on the stick or something? What happens if you overfill a stick? would the stick even allow an overfill or would you get a warning message that there is not enough space for the file that you were dropping if it were too large? Lots of questions I know but I've just spent damn near 4 hours googling, sony support info the job lot and this thread is the nearest I've come to seeing this problem discussed. Hope someone can help cos I don't wanna be binning a hundred quids worth of card lol. Cheers all

Hmmm....normally I would bitch until they gave me a complete new psp lol but the problem is the files on the card were isos and I don't really want to have to send it back to them if you know what I mean....despite the fact that they were legitimate isos of my original umd dumps.

I have been all over the sony support site and don't seem to be able to find this problem anywhere :(

Really hoping that someone can answer my various questions especially about what happens if you use the card space to its limit as I'm sure this is what has caused this as it was working great before this.

Sup mxwizard

I have had some more problem with my MS as well and i admit that holding in the memory stick for a few secs had not been working well lately. I just kept fooling with it inserting and holding in in for a few secs and eventually it read the card again. I also blew into the drive a few times thinking maybe it was dusty or something. I dont seem to have any trouble with my sony stick ever at all. Just the scandisk every once and a while. What brand MS are you guys having trouble with. Anyone had any trouble out of the sony MS yet???

Apparently if when writing to a memory stick you get a crc error then it is a faulty stick. The stick I was using was a 2gb sony stick but I have since sent it back to where it was purchased for a replacement.

sorry i dont know why i thought i had a scandisk MS. It is actually a lexar and i have been having constant trouble with it reading. Sometimes it reads fine. Then at other times i have to repeatedly insert it and pull it from the drive just to get it to read the MS. I honestly think that the Sony MS is a better quality product hands down. The lexar is flimsy in build and is not as solid.
