I'm having trouble copying Madagascar, Toy Story 2, and Fantastic 4. I just got through reading something about DVD Decrypter being dead now and that DVDFab is now the way to go.

Why is it that DVD Decrypter is dead? Is it that it lacks the neccessary tools to be able to rip these new movies with copy protections DVD Decrypter can't bypass?

So DVDFab is the new bad boy? Will it handle the movies mentioned above well? Is DVD Fab as user friendly as DVD Decrypter is?

Thanks for all your help!!

I think the problems with Fantastic 4 and Toy Story 2 are because of a bad Original Disc. Clean them and try again. These movies should be rippable even when only using DVD Shrink.

The thing with DVD Decrypter is that it has not been updated since about june or July. It can still rip the newer movies, but needs a little extra help. You can do this by either manually bypassing the corruption or using a PSL file to manually update DVD Decrypter.

Check out these two guides:

Madagascar happens to be a Ripguard movie, so you will need to use VobBlanker to get rid of the Extra PGCs in VTS_08. Look for posts by Alkohol about Ripguard, Madagascar, and Sky High. He wrote a great guide on Ripguard. If you cannot find them send me a Private message with your e-mail address and I will send you a Ripguard Guide that I wrote.

DVDFab Decrypter is not a bad tool. I only have the Platinum Version, but the Free one is pretty much the same. Basically, it is like DVD Decrypter's File Mode, but without the extra options. If you do not want to attempt using a PSL or following the ARccOS or Ripguard guides, then you can use this tool.

DVD Decrypter is still the better software, but DVDFab will have an easier time getting past newer movies. I would recommend at least trying a PSL or one of the other methods and if you do not like it, then use DVDFab. I would still use DVD Decrypter for every other movie because it is more stable and has more tools.

You have to set the destination. When you click on "Back Up" and then begin processing the movie, it will ask you where to save the result. You should choose a destination that is easy like "c:\Shrink Movies". I always save as an ISO File, so I save them to "C:\DVDD". I use this directory because I use DVD Decrypter to burn the image file later on and they are easy to find.

I think the defaults are "c:\name of movie", "D:\name of movie", etc...

I do not have access to the program now, so I cannot confirm this.

You can try AVG Free edition for a virus:

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Also, Spybot Search & Destroy for other malware (spyware, ad-ware, etc...):

Spybot.info/en/download/index.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Spybot.info/en/download/index.html

Both are free, I have only tried Spybot, but I hear many good things about AVG.
