Aight I got an NEC 16X Double Layer DVD burner. I was burning Sin City and Wedding Crashers, each one with different programs (DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter). I was burning those movies to a Sony DVD-RW Disc and the programs say the write speed is 1.0X. It takes about an hour to burn a full DVD-RW disc. Shouldn't it be going at 16X???

what speed is the media rated for? is your firmware up to date? most burners go a little slower on rw media but it shouldnt be that slow.

If the disks speed is 1X then that is the fastest the burner will burn the DVD. The disk will control what speed you can burn at. Why not use a regular 16X (-or+) disk. You really do not want to burn at 16X as I think you will have a lot of errors. I usually burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the blank media and my burner will do 16X

Actually nowhere on the disk does it say how fast the DVD-RW can be burnt at. It takes me an hour to burn a full DVD-RW, but I get no errors and the quality is great. How long does it take you guys to burn a DVD-RW???

Sounds like a firmware problem to me. Is the speed on the label then? Did you buy it online? If so then go to the site and see. And is this unbranded TY?

I got a pack of 5 SONY brand DVD-RW Discs(model 5DMW47L1). I bought them at Sears.

The box looks like this

Nowhere on the thing do they say the speed.

*UPDATE* LOL ok I went to SonyStyle.com Canada(where I got this image)
And it says its 1X Media lol OMFG. Ok then folks I appreciate the help, but I see the speed is 1X. Doesn't say anything on the box tho. If I would have known, I wouldnt have gotten these.
