When using DVD Shrink can you remove the Extras without affecting the movie? In other words, can you burn/backup the movie only without affecting the performance of the new DVD?

Yes you can backup the main movie only...go to reauthor, under the Main Movie heading double click title 1. This however only gives you the main movie, so there will be no menu along with no special feature etc.

In addition to what LOCOENG said, you can also edit out some of the starting frames and go directly to the movie. You can also eliminate all the trailer material. If the movie has language tracks that you are not going to use, you can "de-select" those as well. I do this routinely. It makes for a smaller file, so to speak, and can even eliminate the need for deep analysis. All this can lead to less compression of the video and keep your burn further from the edge of the disk in some cases.
