Can anyone help me?

I'm a newbie with DVD backup, and I'm currently on the free CloneDVD and AnyDVD trials.

I've tried backing up DVDs of the Lord of the Rings and Gods and Monsters with Traxdata DVD+R Dual Layer disks.

AnyDVD works fine. The problem starts when Clone DVD tries to write to the new media. It always come up with 'Source data is too large'. Surely this shouldn't happen with a disk the same size as the original? Both originals are 7.8Gb and the blank disk is 8.5Gb. I've tried taking peripheral stuff off to get it to fit, but this doesn't work either and it shouldn't be a problem anyway, should it?

I've followed other strings that imply the problem is with NAV. I've disengaged all programs that may interfere with my HD at startup, but this doesn't work either.

Can anyone help?

Cheers from England

check what disc you're trying to burn on, within the AnyDVD program, D5 is a normal 4.7 disc...D9 is dual layer. ....both are set at maximum area, and both need adjustment.

lurking in the midlands, and happy New Year.

To gringle and Ireland - thanks for the tips.

I've read mad bob's guide through and through and checked each stage. I'm not sure whether the problem is that you can't burn an original dvd to a dual layer without compression...maybe.

I'm using the current editions of both Clone and Any. Gringle mentioned checking the disc I'm trying to burn onto through AnyDVD. Can you explain how to do this? I can't find where in the program you can adjust.

Thanks

@spyvi,
Yes you CAN burn an Entire DVD to a Dual Layer blank
with CloneDVD 2. Select Clone Entire DVD, Set the target size to DVD9DL. Be sure you have AnyDVD running with the Red Fox (enabled) BEFORE you insert your Source Disc. This method works well, However, when you decide your burn speed, select 2.4x or 4x. Depending on the Blank & your burner. Not sure? set it to 2.4x and you should be safe.
edited for typos. Man, I need to slow my typing down!

or become a better typist...LOL!!!! Umm, Bunnyrip, I think that choice is DVD+R DL, CloneDVD ver. 2.8.5.1. But the DL choice could be hardware dependent (NEC 3550A, DL).
