i wanna ask if the verbatim MITs (taiwan) are the ones that people rave about and recommend since they're the only ones that my local best buy is currently carrying, in other words, are they the good ones
i know that taiyo yuden is still better, but i already have several packs of verbatims, and i didn't know that sony's MIJs were taiyo yudens (so know i know to buy them whenever they go on sale). i have already tested several verbatim MIT discs and they all work fine (they code out as MCC-004-00), but i would like to hear other peoples' opinion.
are the verbatim MITs taiwan recommended?
also, since i am new here, i don't know if this is a good place to ask this question

the Verbs MIT are ALL i have in terms of single layer discs in either format, as for the DVD+R DL by Verbatim, those are made in singapore~ :)
u will be just fine...i love me some 16x rated DVD+R MCC004s...good stuff...made in taiwan by Verbatim~

docTY, thanks man! now i know i don't have to worry!
i have been reading other threads that you have written and was interested in the modified firmware for my pioneer dvr-109 (well, dvd decrypter shows it as dvr-109, but the best buy receipt shows it as dvr-509) which allows you to booktype dvd+r to dvd-rom. i currently have the 1.40 firmware, but plan to upgrade it to the 1.58.
if you can tell/show me how, i will appreciated a lot! thanks!
also, since i am getting out of the subject of this thread, i don't know if the other members will get mad or something

no worries, sure, i can help you with the hacked/modified firmware for your Pioneer 109, i've already done so for about 1/2 dozen other people in the past...even seasoned veterans here from afterdawn~

neodave-Me too ! Went BestBUY yesterday and twas completely insane ! All the FUJI's were MIT (TAIWANS) & the sony's were'nt on sale so that killed that trip quick ! Guess I will have to hold my gift cards a little longer! Would prefer the MIJ Fuji's But would accept MIJ SONY'S , VERBATIMS, Or Even Maxells if MIJ or ritek Made! Maybe next year will be extra good boy ^& and tell santa to bring OFFICEDEPOT Giftcards instead then wait for a buy one get two free sale on OD/ritek media and load up !Or maybe he'll be extra nice & bring me prepaid creditcards that I can use online & get Taiyo yudens on saLe ! So many thoughts for so little a brain Huh! LOL! Oh well next sunday we try again Right Boss ! HappY NEW Year & Safe Diving !neodave peace!

Just wait a week or 2 & Best Buy will have the 50 packs of MIJ Sony DVD+R 8x on sale for $14.99. Taiyo Yudens Baby! It's not like we're running out yet, is it Docty~? :)

I gave BestBuy another try today at a different location. I must have looked through 100 of the colored Fuji 30 packs. Looks like Staples must have gotten all the MIJ because all I found were MIT. $9.99 seems like their everyday price.
Back to work tomorrow....I can't wait.
I guess I wasn't much better but it seems people can't wait to give BestBuy their money. It was crazy again today. Best of luck BIGTOXY69.

why not just buy 1 MIT fuji 30 pack and get staples to pricematch and get like 2 or 3 from them that are MIJ?

Nearest Best Buy: 45 miles
Nearest Staples: 400 yards
Around my area,where ever there's a walmart,there's a staples. That's about every 20 miles. Best buys and Office depots are about 50 miles apart if you don't live near a big city.
I'm still set with plenty of sony tys and Mcc-004 verbs. I'm still waiting for that Office depot 100 packs of +8x or fuji/sont tys to go on sale.
My nearest best buy didn't have the 30 pack spindles of fujis. They had every quantity besides the 30 packs-all taiwanese.

Hey you guys are still lucky ! You have Staples - I don't think we have'em in Louisiana ! BestBuY 30.miles Circuit City about the same , Officedepot 20 miles Wally world 15miles to 30ish one way ! maybe could order from staples online but I like to shop when I can actually tough & see the product when I can! Happy Shopping!

lol. I got both Staples and Best Buy near me. Staples is REALLY close to me, Best Buy is a little further. I'm in Queens, NYC, NY. :)

I ordered a spindle of those Riteks for $26.99 that saugmon posted about earlier. I recieved them today and ran them through DVD Identifier. He was right. They do code out as Ritek R03.

I'd be lucky to know what's on sale at staples on saturday. The other stores,I find out early sunday morning.I get no newspaper.I just search the websites for the weekly/local sales.
I'm with you Bigtoxy69. Waiting for those 20 cent OD Ritek-R03's or the 30 cent fuji Yuden000-T02s at staples.Maybe even cheaper next sale.
Lots of those 100 packs +8x Ritek-R03 the last time I visited Office Depot! Not a single 50 pack of +8x. Lots of verbs too! It bummed me out when OD'S maxell sale didn't include the full hub printables this time, UGGH!
With the prices coming down, Cmag memosux/HP for 30 cents each or Yuden000-T02/Maxell-002-00/or Ritek-R03 for 20-30 cents each! Excluding the governor's share. No contest on which ones I pick up.

Office Depot has 100-pack +/-R on sale starting tomorrow for $29.99. These are normally $78.88 for a savings of $49.00.
