All new indian dvds seems like since march 2005, give this error when using dvd shrink.... hard to imagine that all are bad discs....and I guess there seems to be no way around.

What else have you tried? There is usually a way to copy a DVD if it will play in a player.

I've had a few movies give me fits. Tried cleaning, DVD Decrypter and so on. Finally decided to try "Any DVD". That did the trick.

Seems like one of the lastest protection schemes is to burn a vob/sector onto the disk that simulates disc damage. Like a major scratch. Any DVD has overcome that for me. Try it. 21 day free trial.

thanks for the info..
I used to have the trial AnyDVD running in the past and had similar problems.. unfortunately I ran out of my trial days a long time back...ow I'd give it a shot again.

any other sugg's are welcome..
for one particular dvd I got lucky as the VOB file that was corrupted was actually an extra, so I could use the REAUTHOR option and backup the actual movie, albeit w/o the menu's!

bevo,
Welcome to the forum. You might try VobBlanker after you rip the disk to HD and then use Shrink on the file VobBlanker creates. That will get rid of the bad .Vob

thanks for the quick response
well, the problem was during ripping the disk to the HD

I used DVD Decrypter, file option and ripped all of the files, except for one corrupt VOB file, which gave me the CRC error, infact I was able to rip the corrupt one partially but shrink does not recognize it.

VObBlanker, not heard of it, can it help to rip the files from the original dvd to the HD, especially this one bad VOB file
