I copied a program from directv with a samsung dvd recorder using a dvd-rw disk in vr mode. Now none of my dvd software will recognize the vro file. I have Pinnacle Studio 9, Nero, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrpyter and nothing works. It's a concert and I wanted to edit the file to create chapters for each song. Instead of a video_ts file, there is a dvd_rtav file on the disc.
So how do I convert the file type or what software will allow me to edit the vro file?
Thanks,
Chuck

hi
did you finalize the disc?
is there a VIDEO_TS folder? (just copy and paste it)
could you list what files/folder you have?
Nothing here to see, move along folks.

No video_ts file. I suspect that's the main problem. tx

Go into the Folder and there should be a Bunch of files with a ".VRO" extention....These Files are Basicly just mpeg-2 files with AC3 audio but are NOT supported in the Crappy assed Pinnacle Studio 9 Software....
If you want to edit these Files you should use a Native Mpeg-2 editor like "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard 2005" or "Womble Mpeg2VCR" which will let you edit the VRO files in any way you want and it will save them as Mpeg-2 files with NO Quality Loss...
Now you have to load the Edited VRO files (Mpeg-2 Now) in a DVD authoring Program that Supports Dolby AC3 audio Like "Tmpgenc DVD author" or "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" which will let you add Menu"s and Chapters and Burn the DVD For you...
Studio 9 can not do it because it doesn"t Support Dolby Audio and DVD Shrink Can"t because it doesn"t Create Chapters or menu"s....

Pinnacle all versions studio supports AC3, PCM and Dolby 2 channel and 5.1. Does not support DTS. 2 channel and 5.1 are not by default and can only be utilized if you have the pixie codes to unlock them.

The disc was finalized. It may be easier to jsut rereord on a DVD-R. That will give me many more options for editing and discs are plenty cheap now. Thx to everyone for the help.

You're right Rotary, just change the extension to .mpg and go. Or use TMPGEnc DVD Author, it will accept it as vro. To see it you will have to choose "Show all Files" in the load dialog, though.

I'm confused a bit, how can you read (or copy a file from) a disc that is not finalized? Are there apps that will allow un-finalized discs to be read from a PC or mac OSx? If so what are they.
Thx for any info - Wayne
