But the disc i got are tdk 16x an di cant burn on them the drive wont recongnize it my recorder is a 8x but i figured it didnt matter cus i wasnt tryin to burn at 16x or 8x.

DVD's ARE a lot pickey than CD's. Never buy discs above the max burn speed of your burner. They will not work, as you have found out! Return them and get some 8X or 4X discs

also, TDK media SUCKS~ :) i would recommend you use a different brand...and in your particular case, if you use DVD-R format, the Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD-R (with TYG01 coding) will suit you perfectly~ :)
