An i/o error usually means your drive doesn't like the media. Neither of the ones you've tried use quality manufacturers though Vakoss comes a little closer w/ prodisc but that's iffy at best. Switch to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. If buying in store verbatim can be found, look for Fuji or Sony made in Japan only, online Taiyo Yudens can be found just make sure you use a reputable place like supermediastore.com or rima.com (us).

I would throw them out- less hassle in the long run + they'll probably degrade. Oops you read the bad media thread so you know the horrors:)
If they were manufactured by Prodisc still iffy but a little better. Make sure your drives firmware is up to date - if it is then you definitely need to buy the good stuff!! (should anyhow :))

If you have decrypter go to tools>drive>check for firmware updates. It will list your firmware then take you here the firmware page.
Here's a link - just type in your model #:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php
Different programs will list your firmware.

good catch binkie~! thanks for letting me know via the media thread :) i don't help much outside the media forum..lol, i'm not as complete as you are~ :)
i stick to what i KNOW a lot about...hehe :)

anyways, starrift...change your media as binkie suggested, upgrading firmware on your drive MIGHT help, but most of the time it will NOT make your drive "like" the media if it doesn't already "like" it to begin with...when dealing w/ crappy discs...that's just something you will have to "face the facts" on...

Should you decide to go ahead and use them, make sure that you set the target size to 4300 so that you do not burn too close to the edge, and that you slow the burn speed down to 4x max. This may help.

Cheers.

@kivory666
Was just glancing thru the media forum and saw Vakoss as a thread and I'm thinking not again! Another person using them? Nope same one.
Have a good one!
