Burning issue with 16X speed dvd burner

i am using nero 7 prem and have an issue with burning speed. When i burn a 90 min movie it takes 2hrs. I have the settings in nero to burn at max, and the following boxex checked. determine write speed, burn at once,and I am using 16x speed dvd-r and 16X speed dvd+r. I am at a lose at why it is taking so long to burn my movies.
Could someone please help me on this matter.

Have you checked to be sure your burner is in dma mode? For better results most here would recommend burning at 1/2 medias rated speed, and make sure to use quality media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

As davidw001 said make sure the drive is in MDA mode and not in PIO mode. below is a thread that tells you how to put it in DMA mode.

I have checked and all are in dma mode, i am using a sata 80gb hdd( main hdd ),,,and a 120gb ide as a spare drive, If this raid controller is setup wrong will this determine the speed of what i burn.
