Well, what kind of dvd players do you have? Maybe your media is not compatible with them.

reegs37,

You give very little information to quite a serious problem.

Ritek are one of the best media you can get, so I doubt if the problem lies there.

How are you creating you DVD ?

Sounds like a silly "Get VTS sector" problem. Checkout Ifoedit (www.doom9.org)

Agh,

DVD-RW. I wouldn't trust that media as far as I could throw it.

Stick to DVD-r media.

You are using these right ?

What brand ? RITEK are highly recommended.

Are you sure your settop box is capable of playing DVD-r ?

Nero is your problem, I see so many users having (including me) having this problem when they begin to backup movies. RecordNowMax is by far the best burning software, it made the backup playable on a very wide range of standalone players.

By the way don't use bulkpaq they are very crappy. But Ritek are very goods.

But if you want very good media at very low price(0.78) try (DVDproGradeA) it works very well on standalone players and also with ps2 games.

The pionner DVD-RW that came with the retail box works very well, very good quality, before I was an expert on DVD backups, and before making backup with DVD-R to avoid coasters, I only burnt with it to make my tests. It works well for movies and ps2 games.

CY54,

You MUST upgrade your version of Nero. As has been said already, Nero is not the best software for burning, and certainly not your version.

The latest version available I beleive is :-

5.5.10.15 (as you can see, quite a few changes ) As for backing up using a single drive, this is not a problem at all. Most people have this setup. You need to rip the original, movie to your hard disc, to remove the encryption element, however you will need lots of hard disc space, the more the better.

To continue this question, please start another thread, and I'll answer what I can.
