Can anyone suggest a good place to purchase media online? Or is it better to wait for a deal at Best Buy or Circuit City?

Depends on how quickly you want it. At BestBuy look for the Made in Japan Sony's and Made in Japan Fuji's(Hard to find now). Verbatim of any flavor is pretty good stuff. Online I'd recommend Rima and Supermediastore. If your going online I'd simply go with Taiyo Yuden media.

Supermediastore is an excellent vendor, and so is rima.com... It's going to be hard to beat the prices that those two offer on a daily basis!

One question before I order. What speed is best for copying movies on DVD+R media? And what speed would be best for copying music on CD-R media?

for dvd movie burning, 4x, or 8x if your system/settings/media can sustain 8x consistently

as to cd burning i personally stick to 16x max for audio and 24x for data

Personally, I get the best results at 8X on Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim... My advice is to compare burn speeds by using CD/DVD Speed, KProbe, or DVDInfo Pro, etc. and see what works best with YOUR setup... See my profile page for some of my scans...

rima.com is also very good...i've only ordered from them twice, but was pleased on both occassions...
