I went to buy a multi port for all my burning needs, DVD printer, External hard drive, Scanner, mouse and my new Plextor burner. There were powered types and non powered types. I bought the non powered type and plugged it in and said use high speed port for faster data transfer. Would the powered port be high speed? Thanks. Also the Plextor has fire wire. Is it that much faster to use this port or should I just use the USB 2.0? Thanks

Well for your abuse of the English language

"for all my burning needs"

Do try pouring a gallon of petrol on yer head, while smoking a Kingston Special.

If you're Plextor has Firewire then you have to use that. You don't have a choice unless you want to adapt from Firewire to USB2. USB2 rather than USB1 must be used for drives because the bandwidth of USB1 is too narrow for functional use by high transfer devices like DVD drives and hard drives. Make sure your system has Firewire and USB2 ports. Also if you purchase a hub it must be a USB2 hub. If you hook a USB1 hub to a USB2 port on your system, you effectively get USB1.
